And it all began with Andrew Young in 1976 when he moved his art glass company, Pearl River Glass Studio Inc., from a rented garage into an 8,000-square-foot building on Millsaps Avenue.

A total of 442 loans were approved for Mississippi small businesses totaling nearly $133 Million. Nationally, SBA loan dollars reached the second largest total ever – $30.25 Billion with 53,848 loans, second only to FY 2011.

The Finance Authority of Maine (FAME) recently announced the allocatees for the newly created Maine New Markets Capital Investment Program. “FAME is pleased by the level of interest in this new program,” stated FAME Board Chair Susan Snowden. “The expected investments should help spur economic development and job creation in Maine.”

On May 24, 2011 USDA Rural Development State Director, Clarence W. Hawkins, recognized Game Equipment, LLC as the “Business of the Year.” This event was held at the Governor’s Mansion in Baton Rouge. The business was recognized by USDA Rural Development for their valuable contributions in utilizing program funds made available by the Business and Cooperative Programs. Sun Ray Grill Purchases Cotton Mill Location With Help From BizCapital Lending Fund

Sun Ray Grill, LLC, a locally owned and operated restaurant group with four restaurants across the New Orleans metropolitan area, has recently acquired the space it rented for five years in the historic Cotton Mill Apartments building. The purchase was made possible thanks to $575,000 in financing from BizCapital, the small business lending arm of Advantage Capital Partners, a local venture capital and private equity firm.
